FIELD: techniques of lifting underwater objects. SUBSTANCE: method involves reeving an auxiliary rope with a positive buoyancy over pulley secured to underwater object and lifting both ends of said rope onto surface craft, fastening a load-lifting rope to one of the lifted ends of auxiliary rope and pulling up the latter until load-lifting rope is passed over the pulley and its end is lifted onto the craft. Underwater object is lifted to the surface by one or two sides of load-lifting rope using conventional methods and means. Device for realizing disclosed method for lifting ends of load-lifting rope to the surface comprises buoys secured to rope ends, each buoy being installed on underwater object by means of controllable holder with a drive for its opening. Rope is reeved over pulley in its middle part so that both rope ends are of the same length relative to the pulley, corresponding to depth of underwater object and can be easily unwound by rising up buoys after opening of their holders.
