FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: magnetic cobalt-base alloy contains (in atomic % ): iron 2-5; Si 5-20; B 5-20; one or several components from the group of titan, vanadium, chromium, manganese, nickel, zirconium, columbium, molybdenum, ruthenium, tantalum, tungsten 0.01-10; with Si and B accounting for 25-30 atomic percent. The alloy has an amorphous matrix structure with inclusions of distinct crystallite grains having total volume content of 0.01-0.5% . The method for production of the alloy characterized in that after a roasting the core is immersed into a magnetic field directed perpendicular to the core butt face. Owing to reorientation of crystal phase magnetization, the axial magnetic anisotropy is reduced resulting in increasing of magnetic permeability in said direction. EFFECT: improved quality, reduced anisotropy, increased permeability of the alloy. 9 cl, 1 dwg, 3 tbl
