FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: steel contains (in % by mass): carbon 0.06-0.12; manganese and chromium 1.8-2.5 each; REM 0.01-0.03; vanadium 0.01- 0.13; columbium 0.02-0.10; nitrogen 0.004-0.025. The Cr and Mn content should satisfy the condition 1.2 x (Cr) + (Mn) = > 4, with aggregate vanadium and columbium content of 0.03-0.15. Steel having above indicated composition and a cross-section up to 80 mm is air hardened to martensite after hot pressure shaping ensuring yield limit σ0,2≥ 824 Н/mm2 , specific elongation δ≥ 14% , impact strength KCU-50≥ 47,3 J/cm2 . Owing to the composition and chromium tp manganese content ratio the steel offers high processing properties by hot pressure shaping, thermal treatment, and welding as compared to the known in the art analogous steels. EFFECT: improved processing properties of the steel. 2 tbl
