METHOD OF DIFFERENTIAL MICROBIOLOGICAL DIAGNOSIS OF BACTERIEMIA AND SEPSIS Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

Abstract RU 2009498 C1

FIELD: medicine, veterinary. SUBSTANCE: blood components were separated from plasma, latter was centrifuged following which several samples were prepared. First sample was native blood plasma. As to second sample, nutrient was added to plasma. With third sample, precipitate that resulted from centrifuging was admixed with nutrient after which samples were incubated and then optical density thereof was determined. Optical density buildup observed in first sample attested to patient's septic state and increase of optical density in second and/or third sample and absence of optical density rise in first sample were indicative of bacteriemia. In case no rise of optical density was observed in samples, latter were additionally stirred up and optical density was measured again. Post-stirring optical density buildup attested that exciter was present in blood. In preferable version, second sample was prepared by dilution using nutrient in ratio 1 : 1. EFFECT: higher accuracy of differential diagnosis of bacteriemia and sepsis and shorter assaying time. 3 cl
