FIELD: machine tool manufacture. SUBSTANCE: chuck has a shank on which a body is mounted for rotation when a tool is clamped or unclamped. The body is threadedly connected to a nut which has an inner conical surface embracing the clamping members. The clamping members are engageable with the surface of a screw head by end surfaces for their axial movement. The screw is located in a threaded hole of the shank and is fixed against rotation relative to the body. The end of the screw head facing the clamping members is made in the form of a solid flat surface, mating flat surfaces are made on the clamping members. Inclined surfaces are made in the body, guide columns threadedly connected to the clamping members are located in the inclined surfaces for axial movement. Extension springs are also positioned in the body, one end of the springs is connected to the columns, and the other one - to locking devices. The columns when moving are positioned in radial slots of the screw head. The chuck also has a set of protective members in the form of bushes mounted in bores on the nut end.
