FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: variable-speed drive has an intercenter distance control mechanism made in the form of guides fixed on a base and a body movably positioned on them. A gear rack connected to a control mechanism is fixed on the body. Moreover, a block gear with internal engageable with a built-up wheel and external gear rims and also with a transfer mechanism is rotatably mounted in the variable-speed drive. The transfer mechanism has two gears one of which is located on the base, and the other one is pivotally connected to the center of the first and the block gears with which it is engaged. The pitch diameters of the gears connected to the control mechanism are determined from a presented formula. The nominal profiles of each tooth of small gears are made equal to each other.
