FIELD: cleaning of water. SUBSTANCE: grit catcher has cone housing 1 with vertical slots in its inner surface, turbine 3 with hollow shaft 4. Disk 10 is disposed in lower part of shaft 4, which is provided with water-intake windows 9 and perforations 5 extending in helical path at the level above base of screw turbine 3. Vertical slots 2 are in communication with collector 17 to provide conveyance of slit primarily separated from flow and small quantity of water into wasteway channel 18. Additional amount of slit is centrifuged under the action of screw turbine 3 and urged into wasteway channel 18. Prevailing amount of clarified water penetrates through perforations 5 and windows 9 into tubes 4 and further into clear water channel 15. Additional amount of clarified water is delivered through opening 11 in inclined disk 10 and through widened end 14 of clean water channel 15.
