FIELD: rolling engineering. SUBSTANCE: blank heated to the rolling temperature is rolled in the section mill line till obtaining of finished section, for instance reinforcing steel bars. In manufacturing thermally-strengthened rolled sections, the feed coming out of the final stand of the section mill is passed through the accelerated-cooling installation where the rolled section becomes thermally strengthened using the heat of the rolling heating. The produced rolled sections are cooled in the section mill cooler and are cut into the gauge lengths with formation of non-gauge balances. The formed non-gauge balances of the thermally-strengthened rolled sections are joined together by butt-welding into the infinite bar which is then cut into gauge cuts. After welding the non-gauge cuts into the infinite bar, before cutting into gauge lengths, their joints are subjected to thermomechanical treatment using the high-temperature of metal in the place of joint. This treatment consists in local cooling of welded joint to 550- 600 C at a cooling rate of not less than 300 C/sec and subsequent compression of the welded joint in the directions perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the rolled section at a deformation degree equal to 20-25 % . EFFECT: extended operating capabilities. 1 tbl
