FIELD: reprocessing of used metal cord-reinforced articles. SUBSTANCE: article is preliminarily pierced by at least three through cylindrical channels perpendicular to the article surface and spaced equally apart around the circumference with radius not exceeding 2.5 times the article thickness. Impact waves are generated by high- voltage electrical spark discharges accomplished simultaneously in all the channels filled with dielectric liquid with the voltage pulse duration not exceeding 1.75 times the ratio of the article thickness to the sound velocity in the article material. The through channels are formed in the article by electrical puncturing. The articles may be placed in liquefied gas. EFFECT: extended operating capability. 4 cl, 2 dwg
