Abstract RU 2010881 C1

FIELD: metallurgy; manufacture of aluminum-silicon alloys. SUBSTANCE: silicon containing fines and dustlike fraction was superficially introduced into melt having temperature of 665 to 680 C and then melt temperature was increased to point of 850 to 900 C at rate of 2 to 5 C/min. Vigorously stirring silicon and effective absorption of silicon fines and dustlike fraction eliminated the necessity in separating these fractions and thus saved time and efforts in preparing desired alloy and raised efficiency of utilization of silicon by 4.9 % . Silicon and aluminum losses were respectively curtailed by 5.8 and 3.0 kg/alloy. The object of disclosed invention was finding ways of efficiently processing silicon fines and dustlike fraction due to stepped up absorption, reduced costs at the expense of ruled out step of separation of silicon fractions, lowered silicon losses owing to higher degree of utilization of silicon, diminished aluminum losses due to scaled down melt oxidation, higher quality of alloy, and curtailed duration of heat. Quality of alloy was raised both through amelioration of alloy structure and reduction of hydrogen content in alloy by 17 % . Time required for preparing desired alloy was reduced by 22 % .
