FIELD: production of aluminium by melt salt electrolysis. SUBSTANCE: method comprises step of introducing together with an extinguishing agent, being compressed air, silicon dust in quantity, consisting 0.01-0.2% of electrolyte mass. Lowered time period of anode effect extinguishing is provided by increased rate of solution in the electrolyte an active silica, created at interaction of the dust silicium with oxygen of the extinguishing agent (compressed air). That accelerates process of enhancing wettability of the anode by melt electrolyte. The time period of the anode effect extinguishing is decreased from 1.8 up to 1.4 min, energy consumption is lowered by 60 kWt hour/t of electrolytical metal. Metal losses due to fixing of oxygen of the extinguishing agent (compressed air) by silicium are lowered by 0.5 kg/t. EFFECT: lowered energy consumption due to decreased time period of anode effect extinguishing and lowered losses of electrolytical metal. 1 cl, 1 tbl
