FIELD: testing susceptibility of stainless steels. SUBSTANCE: method of testing susceptibility of stainless steels to corrosion cracking involves exposure of stainless steel stressed specimens to solution of the following composition g/l: NaCl 180-220, (NH4)2S2O8 12-15, H2SO4 4.7-5.1, water - the balance. Temperature of solution is 48-52 C, test is run until cracking with the total test duration lasting for 10 hrs. EFFECT: test duration cut, selection of steels to be tested widened through testing high-carbon steels at relatively low content of chromium, and use of toxic substances avoided. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
