FIELD: metal working. SUBSTANCE: the device prevents breakdowns due to provision of free travel of the measuring gauge at a high accuracy of measurement. The measuring gauge is installed radially on rotating barrel 5 fitted on cylindrical housing 1. A movable and fixed electrical contacts are installed on the adjacent surfaces of barrel 5 and housing 1 respectively. The fixed electrical contact is made in the form of two ends adjoining each other through insulator 16 of circular sectors 17 and 18, having the shape of a scroll. Sector 18 projects over the surface of sector 17 and with its end forms a threshold on the contact operating surface in the joint. The movable contact is made in the form of spring-loaded ball 21 installed in a radial blind hole of barrel 5 for longitudinal movement in it and rolling over the contact operating surface. If the length of the tool being monitored is longer than the programmed one, the gauge together with barrel 5 turns relative to housing 1 and is swung out of the way of tool movement. In this case the tool displacement is compared with the coordinate of the gauge zero position, ball 21 breaks away from sector 17, and the tool fitness is determined according to the value of tool displacement. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of measurement. 6 dwg
