FIELD: oil production. SUBSTANCE: oil field is drilled out in compliance with area layout. Water is pumped through injection holes and pool fluids are sampled through production wells. When production of these wells reaches ultimate water content grid of wells is thinned out. For this purpose production wells are stopped and injection wells of adjacent element of field are transferred to oil sampling. In process of production volumes of sampled fluids are monitored and when level of water content gets equal to initial one of product of injection wells at moment of their transfer to oil sampling pumping of water through injection wells is started again. Production wells are put into service and initial production system is restored. Further on process is repeated in described sequence up to ultimate production of residual oil pillars formed between production wells. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process of exploitation of oil field. 5 cl, 2 dwg
