FIELD: automotive engineering. SUBSTANCE: roof rack has casing made up of two parts defining a closed volume to accommodate load. Casing and cover plate are connected by locking hinges at front and rear of car body. Interior of the roof rack has telescoping rods with locks. Each of the locking hinges includes screw with lock nut secured to a bracket, and two supports with tapered holes arranged coaxially with the screw. The screw has conical projections and cylindrical portion for engagement with tapered holes of the supports. The casing accommodates two brackets with tapered holes to receive tapered projections of the screw. The brackets have slots of a size corresponding to the diameter of the cylindrical portion of the screw. EFFECT: improved design, increased reliability in operation. 4 cl, 8 dwg
