FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: electric arc furnace has at least one electrode and electromagnetic device placed under furnace bottom for moving bath. Electromagnetic device covers at least one electrode such that electromagnetic field lines runs mostly along longitudinal axis of electrode. Furnace current flows through electromagnet, choke is connected in power supply system D. C. . current arm. In the case, where power system has 12-pulse rectifier electromagnet has two parts. Each part is built in between equivalent collecting buses of rectifier and electrode. Electromagnet parts are connected such that magnetic field directions of both parts are the same. Electrode made as two parts connected in parallel in electric furnace. Each part of electrode has metal core covered with moulded body of uniform cross-section. Moulded body has two symmetrical parts. EFFECT: higher reliability. 5 cl, 5 dwg
