FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: DC arc furnace builds up unwanted reactive-power fluctuations during its operation which are corrected by means of compensator. Its ac current setting element is controlled depending on ignition angle stabilization signal αωt controlled by functional transducer depending on desired reactive power signal , furnace actual reactive power signal (Qs), and filter reactive power signal (Qr) corresponding to reactive power of filtering circuits. Desired reactive power signal depends on total current (i33) which includes, apart from actual arc-furnace current (iist), also current of filtering circuits and current of probable auxiliary devices.
