FIELD: preparation alkylated aromatic compounds. SUBSTANCE: alkylation reaction is carried out by contacting aromatic compound with alkylating agent in the presence of a catalyst. As the catalyst, there is used synthetic porous crystalline zeolite having the following X-ray diffraction: interplanar spaces (A) 1) 12.36+-0.4; 2) 11.03+-0.02; 3) 8.83+-0.14; 4) 6.18.03+-0.12; 5) 6.0+- 1.10; 6) 4.06+-0.07; 7) 3.91+-0.07; 8) 3.42+-0.06. Relative intensity: 1)1 100 1)C-O, 2) C-C, 3) C-0, 4) C- O, 5) C-C, 6) C-C, 7) C-O, 8) O. Zeolite includes as the components compound of formula X2O3 wherein X is aluminum, boron and/or gallium, and compound of formula YO2 where Y is silicon and/or germanium in molar mixture ratio (1- 30):1. The alkylation reaction is carried out at a temperature of 0-500 C and pressure of 0.2-250 atm, with molar aromatic compound-alkylating agent ratio of from 0.1:1 to 50:1.
