The catalyst has the following X-ray diffraction patterns; interplanar spaces : 12.76-11.96; 11.23-10.83; 8.97-8.69; 6.30-6.06; 6.00-5.90; 4.13-3.99; 3.98-3.84; 3.48-3.36 and relative intensity (I/Io·100) Cp-Oc; Cp-C; Cp-OC; Cp-Oc; Cл-Cp; Cл-C; Cp-Oc and Oc; respectively. The catalyst has a composition determined by the X2O3:n(YO2)-ratio where X is trivalent Al, B, Fe and/or Ga; Y if Si or Ge; n=10-150. EFFECT: improved alkylation method. 15 cl, 11 tbl
