FIELD: sealing technology. SUBSTANCE: seal has main friction pair which consists of friction rings 2 and 4 and standby friction pair which consists of friction ring 14 rotating together with sleeve 5 and non-rotating friction ring 11. Standby friction pair is unloaded hydraulically. In case of derangement of main seal, leakage is intensified and hydraulic resistance of slit formed by circular projection 12 and circular bore 15 on sleeve 5 presses non-rotating friction ring 11 of standby friction pair to rotating friction ring 14. Inner diameter of circular projection 12 is equal to outer diameter of sleeve 5 which makes it possible to use energy of velocity head of leakage jet. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency due to placing in operation standby friction pair through employment of energy of velocity head of leakage jet. 2 cl, 2 dwg
