FIELD: machine engineering; metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method consists in supplying the metal to mould, drawing of ingot from it at variable speed, supplying the slag mixture to meniscus of metal in the mould, setting the mould to reciprocal motion, cooling of working walls of the mould with running water, supporting and guiding the ingot in the zone of secondary cooling by means of rollers, cooling of ingot surface under the mould by means of cooling agent sprayed by jets, fixing of path of motion of the mould by measuring the value of deviation of perpendicular to the working walls of the mould on auxiliary plane from medium position for every cycle of reciprocal motion. When path deviates by 10 ... 40% from the current working deviation, flow rates of cooling agent under the mould increase by 5-30% from working value over the length equal to 0.2-4.0 of the ingot thickness. EFFECT: improved quality of ingots; enhanced efficiency of casting. 3 dwg, 1 tbl
