FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method of pyrometric multicolored measurement of continuous casting ingot surface temperature provides for measurements of heat emission are exercised in the most probable crack creation places directly in the zone of primary cooling in the crystallizer by fiber glass light guides, cooled due to warm contact with cooled working walls of the crystallizer. Apparatus, that realizes the method, has a fiber glass - optical probe, that is connected by fiber glass light guides with multicolored pyrometer, output signal of which serves to detect cracks and to control parameters of manufacturing process. In the case the probe is located in the crystallizer due to heat conducting matrix and its cooling through heat contact with walls provides decrease of own emission of the light guides. EFFECT: method and apparatus are used in systems of control of constant metal casting manufacturing processes. 2 cl, 3 dwg, 1 tbl
