FIELD: test-and-measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves forming two reference and object beams from a coherent elliptically polarized radiation, directing them to opposite faces of a photorefractive crystal which is used as a recording medium for recording holograms in opposite directions relative to each other. As a result of interference of the beams in a volume of crystal refraction index variations occur, i.e. a phase hologram is being recorded. From this hologram as a result of self diffraction a holographic image is restored. EFFECT: widened time range for storage of holograms and enhanced diffraction efficiency of the same. 17 cl, 10 dwg
