FIELD: analysis of polydispersed systems, method may be used in milk industry for determining total quantity of bacteria and somatic cells in milk. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of passing a clarified and diluted sample of milk in the form of suspension through a hydraulic focusing device; providing compression of an inner flow 2 of the sample till a necessary dimension by the outer flow 1 of filtered distilled water. In zone 7 of inspection a beam of the laser 3, focused by lens 4, crosses the flow of the sample by angle 90 degrees. Light, dispersed by particles, moving in the flow, is being collected by the optical system 5 in angle range 5-35 degrees relative to the laser beam direction. The photodetector 6 meters amplitude of each pulse of dispersed irradiation. By mathematical procession of amplitude values of the pulses dimensions of registered particles are being calculated. By summing particles, having size mo less, than 4 micrometers, bacteria quantity is being determined. By summing particles, having sizes, more than 4 micrometers, a total quantity pf somatic cells is being determined. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of determining. 1 cl, 3 dwg
