FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: conveyer machine has low-temperature and high-temperature treatment sections with hood and heating hearth respectively, stepped cooling sections with hood, gas flow chambers connected with manifold, gas ducts, smoke exhauster and smoke stack. Gas flow chambers located in the cooling section are reversible and are connected to the self-contained section of the manifold disconnected from its main section by means of throttle valves and additionally provided with discharge fan. Lined hood of the cooling section is provided with air intake hatches fitted with shut-off covers. Inter-section partitions at the first stage of the cooling section are provided with the following holes: front partition in way of running of the machine with lower and upper holes for dilution of combustion products with gas-air mixture; rear partition is provided with lower hole for feeding the cooling air. Machine operates in two modes. In first mode, lumpy product in form of sintered mass is produced. Machine operates for sucking the head-transfer agent from top to bottom. Mixture of lumpy ore and coal is located on conveyer machine and is subjected in succession to preliminary heating, ignition and sintering. In second mode of operation of machine, lumpy product is produced in form of separate granules. Machine operates in reversible mode: first it sucks heat-transfer agent from top to bottom and then from bottom to top. Granules loaded on machine are subjected in succession to drying, Heating, main roasting when fuel is burnt above layer and finishing roasting when fuel is burnt in the layer, after which product is subjected to cooling.
