FIELD: analysis of materials. SUBSTANCE: method of chromatographic analysis involves the steps of: providing two serially connected chromatograph columns, blowing the first column from heavy components by a portion of a carrier gas in an opposite direction after outlet of light components of interest from it and discharging the heavy component carrying flow into the atmosphere after purifying by an absorbing filter, increasing a rate of the carrier gas portion used for inverse-blowing of the first column as much as 10-15 times compared to an initial blowing-through rate after outlet of all the light components into a detector and after recording. The gas chromatograph for effecting the method is characterized in that a pipeline used for inverter blowing of the first column and discharging the carrier gas into the atmosphere has two outlet channels, a controllable shut-off valve mounted in one of the channels, pneumatic resistance mounted in the other.
