FIELD: machine engineering. SUBSTANCE: apparatus for non-mechanical cutting of sheet materials has a cutter unit with a cutter; power supply unit and flexible energy supplying cables, mounted in a rigid tube and connecting the units one with another. An upper end of the tube is suspended with use of a spring on a cardan joint in such a way, that an axis of the tube passes through a center of the cardan joint. The cardan joint is mounted by its frame on a metal construction 11 of the power supply unit. Inside the above mentioned frame other frames are mounted with use of trunnions, whose axis are oriented along X and Y axis, that is in directions of lengthwise and cross motions of the units, and they are crossed in the center of the cardan joints. In zones of maximum radius values and rotation angles of the frames operational pickups are placed along X and Y axis and arranged over these pickups spot-type contactless pickups and screens, engaging with them. Between a lower end of the tube and a zone of fixing the flexible energy supply cables the cutter has a gap. The cutter may perform hydraulic-jet cutting by a pure-liquid jet or by the jet with an addition of abrasive sand, heat cutting such as gaseous, plasma-type, laser-type cutting and so on. EFFECT: enlarged using range of the cutter. 1 cl, 6 dwg
