FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves dividing salinated area into alternating fields of annual grasses, and strips of perennial wood-and-shrub halophytes with yearly undersowing or underplanting of less enduring plants to more salt-tolerant halophyte plants. Before sowing and planting of halophyte plants the plot is mulched with a layer of sand or gravel up to 20 cm thick. The width of the plots with grassy halophyte plants should not exceed five times the height of the woody halophyte plants on areas with wood-and-shrub vegetation. Annual and perennial halophyte plants are sown in the form of flower-beds and in the following years the soil is cultivated on flower-beds of annual plants. The wood-and-shrub halophyte plants are grown in single-row wood strips while the perimeter of the salinated plot is formed by five-row forest strips of wood-and-shrub halophyte plants. The last stage of desalination includes creating fodder fields on plots of grassy crops while wood-and-shrub areas are used for planting protective wood strips.
