FIELD: hydraulic engineering. SUBSTANCE: breakwater is made up of immersed blocks with vertical ribs at side faces and beveled front face. The blocks are arranged in a row and spaced from one another. The operating principle of the breakwater is based on dissipation of kinetic energy under the action of forces of friction. Oncoming wave meets breakwater to break, whereby its energy is mainly dissipated at the front beveled front faces and in spaces between the blocks. The thus weakened wave carrying sand and gravel reaches the shore to spread on shore slope and lose remaining energy. The wave that lost its energy flows back to leave drifts. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 3 dwg
