FIELD: construction of impervious curtains. SUBSTANCE: lowered successively into trench, excavated under protection of clay mortar, are panels whose side edges are coated at ground surface with sealant layer in volume corresponding to limit of sealant spontaneous flowing off the edge, and doubled to form folds. Panel lowering under gravity of ballast weights into trench slides over surface of panel laid beforehand with its outer surface of folds which prevents premature contact of sealant with panel laid beforehand. At the end of lowering the panel, sealant, under action of forces of side pressure of ground filled into trench, comes out of fold hollow and contacts the surface of the other panel, and fills the area overlapping the panels to produce reliable water-impervious butt-joint.
