FIELD: electrical engineering; manufacture of alkaline metal-gas storage batteries with hydride electrodes. SUBSTANCE: hydride electrode has grid current lead and active material made of mixture of powder of intermetallic compound LaNi4,8Al0,2 with specific surface 0,3-0,9 m2/g and fluoroplastic binder applied to electrode surface in amount of 80-120 mg/cm2. Ratio of intermetallic compound and fluoroplastic in mixture is, mass %: intermetallic compound - 94 - 96, fluoroplastic 4 - 6. Method of manufacture of electrode includes production of intermetallic compound powder, grinding of intermetallic compound powder with particles of 100 - 160 microns in size in ethyl alcohol atmosphere by vibration grinder during 8 - 12 min, mixing powder with 40 - 60% water suspension of fluoroplastic, adding 0.1- 0.4 g of ethyl alcohol per gram of mixture, applying mixture to grid at pressure of 300-700 kg/cm2 and baking of electrode during 8 - 12 min in vacuum at temperature of 340 - 370 C.
