FIELD: medical engineering, particularly, cardiac surgery. SUBSTANCE: device includes shell for lightening at least subventricular portion of heart, which has hermetically interconnected and movably disposed outer and inner walls to make up intermediate cavity to pass fluid. Outer and inner walls are made solid. In addition, shell may encompass entire heart and include at least two enclosed portions, with intermediate cavities of each portion being in communication with one another. Disclosed apparatus further incorporates variable-volume expanding vessel communicating with intermediate cavity by flexible tube. Expanding vessel is made implantable and shut off by self-sealing perforating diaphragm to admit fluid into intermediate cavity. Part of fluid is compressible.
