FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: fluorinated alkanes are prepared by contacting of one molar alkene equivalent, preferably halogenated alkene, in the presence of catalyst - tantalum pentachloride, at temperature about 70 C to about 145 C under anhydrous conditions. Synthesized fluorinated alkane contains in molecule by one or more fluorine atoms more as compared that in initial alkene. Synthesized compounds are used as solvents, coolants, explosive substances. EFFECT: improved method of synthesis.
