FIELD: 1,1,1-trifluorodichloroethane and/or 1,1,1,2-tetrafluorochloroethane are used as coolant and blowing agents. SUBSTANCE: reagent 1: tetrahalogenethylene C2Cl4-xFx. Reagent 2: hydrofluoric acid. Reaction conditions: 275-450 C, a molar ratio of reactants of 1-20:1 in the presence of a catalyst containing 0.02-20 wt % at least of one metal having an oxidation degree of more than 0 and selected from chromium, manganese, rhodium, nickel, cobalt or mixtures thereof per AlF3 at a fluorine content corresponding to of 90 wt % AlF3. The catalyst is prepared by treating an unfluorinated catalyst with a fluorine-containing compound to be evaporated. The process selectivity does not exceed 80-94% with the minimum amount of pentafluoroethane formed. EFFECT: improved properties of the coolants and blowing agents. 7 cl, 9 tbl
