FIELD: metallurgy, ingot casting. SUBSTANCE: melt enters crystallizer pre-assembled of four walls in the process of continuous metal casting. Ingot is pulled out of the crystallizer at variable velocity. The crystallizer is given with reciprocating motion. Slag mixture is put on metal meniscus. Crystallizer working walls are cooled with circulating water. Hydraulic cylinders hold down wide walls to the ends of narrow working walls along crystallizer length and width. The forces holding down wide working walls to the ends of narrow working walls are measured at two levels along crystallizer length. Water flow rate for crystallizer cooling is decreased and pulling ingot out is stopped when holding down force increased. EFFECT: increased productivity. 1 tbl, 2 dwg
