FIELD: continuous casting of rectangular ingots. SUBSTANCE: method involves supplying metal into crystallizer having four working walls; withdrawing ingot from crystallizer with variable speed; pressing wide working walls to ends of narrow working walls and moving narrow walls relative to wide working walls, with width of withdrawable ingot being changed. In the process of pouring, pressure force of wide walls to narrow walls is measured, with pressure force being increased to 1.8-2.5 P at the beginning of withdrawal of ingot and pressure force is reduced to 0:5 - 0.8 P in the process of movement of narrow walls, with P being working pressure force of wide and narrow walls of crystallizer. EFFECT: increased efficiency and enhanced reliability in operation. 1 tbl, 2 dwg
