RAIL LUBRICATING DEVICE Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: transport vehicles operated on railways with a large number of small-radius curves. SUBSTANCE: device comprises lubricant reservoir 2, lubricating member 2 and additional truck, all these mounted on transport vehicle. Lubricating member has the form of a skid articulated to said truck and capable of being adjusted for height. Axle boxes of wheel pairs are mounted on truck frame by means of spring hangers with limited relative vertical movement of frame and axle boxes. Thickness of skid is smaller than transverse dimension of wheel ridge and has wear-resistant inserts. One of said inserts is made integral with revolving nozzle having lubricant supply hole and a slot for discharge of said lubricant onto internal side of rail head. As transport vehicle 1 moves out on the tracks, pneumatic drive presses lubricating skid with inserts against internal side of rail head. Lubricant is delivered through pipe from reservoir to insert with revolving nozzle wherefrom it flows through hole and slot onto rail head. After lubrication, pneumatic drive is switched off, the skid is withdrawn from rail and lubricant supply is discontinued. EFFECT: improved design. 4 cl, 7 dwg
