DEVICE FOR APPLICATION OF LUBRICANT AND FRICTION MODIFIER TO RAIL SURFACES Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC B61K3/02 

FIELD: railway transport; auxiliary rail equipment.

SUBSTANCE: proposed device for application of lubricant and friction modifier to rails contains tanks for lubricant and for friction modifier mounted on rail vehicle. Spaces of tanks are connected by pipelines through shutoff valves with sprayers for application of lubricant onto side face of head of outer rail in track curve and with sprayers for application of friction modifier to roll surface of head of inner rail which are installed before rail vehicle wheels and fastened on horizontal arm of L-shaped bracket rigidly secured on wheelset axle box of rail vehicle. Proposed device contains also control unit to control delivery of lubricant and friction modifier to sprayers, control unit being connected with shutoff valves. Tanks are installed relative to sprayers at height providing free flow of liquid lubricant and friction modifier owing to pressure differential built between levels of location of sprayers and tanks.

EFFECT: simplified design of device, provision of maintaining tanks with lubricant and friction modifier in operating condition, prevent of formation of sediment.
