FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: prior to, and after crimping the tow is subjected to heat treatment with superheated steam ay pressure of 6-22 kg/sq. cm and temperature of 130-210 C, and after crimping, with saturated steam at pressure of 1-6 kg/sq.cm. Novelty consists also in that heat carrier is uniformly supplied to the entire tow fibers to form condensate on them, and all fibers are heated uniformly. Device has thermal chamber adjacent to feed rollers of device. Chamber has channel to pass tow and channels to pass superheated steam and located in body and in folding cover of chamber. Height of channel to pass tow is larger than tow thickness by 3-15 times. Length of channel to pass heat carrier is larger than channel height by, at least, 10-50 times. Angle of channel inclination to axis of chamber channel equals 30-65 deg. and vertex of angle faces feed rollers. Axle of hinge of folding cover is adjacent to feed rollers and located along axis of chamber channel. Channel to pass heat carrier nearest to hinge axle is positioned from hinge axle at distance not above fifteen-fold thickness of tow. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 4 cl, 1 dwg
