FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology. Lignocellulosic biomass material is treated by irradiating with electron beam with a dose of from about 10 Mrad to 150 Mrad. Irradiation reduces average molecular weight of the biomass material from 200–320 kDa to less than 10 kDa. Irradiated biomass material is saccharified. Combine the treated material with a microorganism that is genetically modified to overexpress one or more amino acids or amino acid derivatives to produce the product. Seal and dry the product to produce animal feed. Resulting food material has an amino acid availability of nutrients that exceeds the availability of nutrients from the initial biomass. Such processed biomass is more easily hydrolyzed in the stomach of the animal.
EFFECT: method for producing a feed for animals enriched with amino acids and amino acid derivatives is provided.
