FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biochemistry. According to the first version of the method, fodder is obtained from biomass containing polysaccharides in the form of cellulose, hemicellulose or starch by mechanical processing, irradiation with a beam of electrons and conversion of the irradiated biomass. According to the second version of the method, the irradiated biomass is further mixed with an enzyme. The biomass is selected from a group consisting of paper, a paper product, waste paper, silage, herbs, rice husk, mill cake, cotton, jute, hemp, flax, bamboo, sisal, abaca, straw, maize cobs, corn stover, millet, lucerne, hay, coconut fibre, seaweed, algae and mixtures thereof. The biomass has volume density lower than about 0.5 g/cm3.
EFFECT: invention improves affordability of nutrients contained in the biomass and increases the calorific value of fodder obtained from the biomass.
