FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: side sharpening of needles of drum-wound card is carried out by cassettes, each containing 25 flat abrasive discs. The latter are introduced between card needles to a depth of 2 2± 0,5 mm 0.5 mm at the first stage and 0.5-0.7 mm at the second and subsequent stages. The cassette delivery speed along drum axis shall be equal to longitudinal speed of spiral coils along the drum. Besides, side sharpening of needles less than 0.32 mm in diameter is carried out by moving cassettes with discs in one direction only, coinciding with screwing-in direction of card spiral.
