FIELD: construction of shaft furnaces. SUBSTANCE: gas distributing walls are located in the furnace shaft over the entire height. Igniting device is located in the upper portion of the shaft and is provided with vertical plate and inclined plate rigidly secured to the vertical one. Vertical plate is made for performing reciprocating motion in the shaft; lateral walls of the shaft are provided with grooves for securing the plate.
