METHOD TO DETERMINE RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF LIQUID/SOLID MEDIA Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: seismic methods of searching and prospecting oil and gas fields. SUBSTANCE: plane longitudinal wave is generated in near-field area of a well. Dynamic characteristics of transmitting seismic waves are recorded by shear and stress receivers with one receiver oriented along normal toward plane front of the longitudinal wave. Then digital processing and interpretation of dynamic characteristics of longitudinal waves are performed taking into account obtained kinematic characteristics of transmitting longitudinal and cross waves. For the purpose, monotype time signals are selected first from all recorded in the well components of transmitting longitudinal wave by means of point-by-point subtracting shear or stress tangential X,Y-component from axial Z-component. Then recalculation of integral dynamic parameters of monotype time signals and kinematic characteristics into differential ones (stratum) with further determining (λ,μ) elastic moduli, (λ^*,n) coefficients of dynamic viscosity, as well as parameters of longitudinal wave absorption for each point of receiving along well shaft.
