FIELD: searching and prospecting mineral resources. SUBSTANCE: concurrent neutron and gamma irradiation of rocks. Total spectral gamma field generated in the course of gamma logging and neutron logging is recorded, as well as slowed down neutron field. Total spectrum of gamma logging and neutron logging is subdivided. Such rock parameters as density, porosity and lithology are determined. Device has neutron source and neutron and gamma detectors in a single screen of changeable thickness with collimation apertures for gamma radiation detectors and source. Neutron and gamma source are arranged either on one or on quite different sides as to radiation detectors. EFFECT: comprehensive well logging. 5 dwg
