FIELD: processes for preparing a polymeric material. SUBSTANCE: the process for preparing a foaming polymeric antipyrene comprises dissolving 100 parts of paraform (or formaldehyde) in 200 parts of a 0.5% NaOH solution on heating to 40-60 C for 30-40 min thereafter adding 110-140 wt parts of dicyanodiamide under stirring at 80-100 C for 40-60 C, then pouring 90-130 wt parts of xylite backflow and stirring for 100-120 min. The resulting product is dried at 120-150 C for 6-8 hours and thereafter ground and mixed with a phosphate component (mono, di- or polyammonium phosphate in a ratio of 100 wt parts of antipyrene and 40-80 wt parts of phosphates. EFFECT: improved effectiveness of antipyrene, greater utilization of xylite production waste and simplified treatment process. 2 tbl
