FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method of electron-beam metal smelting, predominantly tantalum, comprises melt bath preparation in once-through crystallizer, ingot formation in the process of its pulling and rotation. Preparation of liquid metal bath is carried out in a crystallizer with broadened conical upper part. Level of melt bath is kept at distant of 0.05 - 0.12 ingot diameter above place of widening. Ingot pulling is carried out with concurrent rotation. EFFECT: improved quality of surfaces of ingots, increased qualitative output. 1 dwg
