METHOD OF DETERMINING SULPHUR CONTENT IN ORGANIC COMPOSITIONS Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

Abstract RU 2029303 C1

FIELD: analytical chemistry. SUBSTANCE: method provides testing of the sample of trimethylgallium - 0.00067-0.0540 grams - placed into the first reaction chamber where the sample is decomposed by high-voltage spark which has parameters C=1500 pF, L=3mcH, V=15 kV during 1.5-2 minutes. Then decay products of trimethylgallium are blown through by oxygen at rate of 2ml/min into the second reaction chamber where ozone is produced under action of oxygen high-voltage spark. Ozone oxidize decay products and sulphur-containing organic compositions correspondingly to sulphur trioxide during 8-10 minutes. Trioxide of sulphur is blown through quartz trap by oxygen stream into bubbler filled with absorbing 0.002 M carbonic sodium solution, where sulphur trioxide is oxidized till reaching sulfate-anion. The latter is determined by method of ion-chromatography when carbonic sodium solution is used eluate. Contents of sulphur in trimethylgallium is judged from sulfate-anion content.
