FIELD: cationite preparation. SUBSTANCE: the invention relates to processes for preparing cationites by a method of sulfurization and also to methods of utilization of liquid petrochemical production waste, more specifically petroleum slurry and to methods of purification of sewage resulting from the production of acetylene and ethylene produced by high-temperature homogeneous pyrolysis of light petroleum products and spent sulfuric acid containing organic impurities. Cationites may be used in the petrochemical industry, for example, for purifying slightly alkaline sewage and as an acid-type catalyst. The process for preparing a cationite comprises sulfurization of the petroleum slurry contained in sewage with spent sulfuric acid in the acetylene-ethylene production at a petroleum slurry to sulfuric acid weight ration of 1:(1-0.4).
