FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: ore portion of charge and cock are fed to hoppers of loading device and cock weight in the feed is changed depending upon change in ore portion density of the charge by a value, specified by expression as follows: ΔK = 0,01·Kaver·(ρpres-ρaver)α ,, where Kaver is a value of cock weight in the feed at adopted averaged iron content in ore portion of the charge; ρpres - is present density of ore portion of charge; ρaver is density of ore portion of the charge at adopted averaged iron content; α is slope tangent of linear function in dependency of iron content in ore portion of the charge on its density. Stabilization of furnace heat state is achieved at the expense of prompt definition of density of ore portion of the charge, and hence, by direct prompt definition of DK in charge hoppers by pycnometry using gas fed to the hopper before charge pouring down. EFFECT: improved smelting by changing cock weight.
